The Ukrainian patients treated by the Canadian medical mission teams came from all regions of Ukraine. During interviews they courageously recounted their experiences on the front lines, life before and after injury, and all that gives them hope and meaning to continue pushing forward, despite the gruelling challenges they face in their recovery process.

Interviewing them was emotional. I was amazed by their strength and resilience, but also felt their deep pain in the face of such tragic circumstances. Many have lost close friends, sometimes lying just meters away, unable to aid them in the most critical moments.  I listened with compassion, as they described the most difficult, challenging and horrific moments of their lives.
